Yes a 12V battery is required at all times. All Ghost Controls Automatic Gate Opener Systems are battery powered. This design is inherently safer and allows the systems to be installed in almost any location in the world.
The 12V battery can be recharged with either a Ghost Controls UL Listed AC Transformer that is plugged into a 120V AC outlet OR one or more solar panels. Ghost Controls offers a 10W Solar Panel kit with the panel, mounting pole, mount brackets, and hardware to mount the panel to a fence or post and adjust to maximize your solar charging potential. You can use up to three 10W panels for 30W in total of solar power.

You can use up to three 10W (AXDP) panels OR one 30W (AX30) panel for a total of 30Watts.

We do not recommend using our gate operators on gates of this kind, because any full panel gate with a swing operator attached has the potential to catch a gust of wind and cause irreparable damage to the gate and gate operator.
If you still choose to install our system on a full panel gate, we will honor the warranty for your accessories and control board, BUT we will not be able to honor the warranty on your gate opener arm and mounting hardware.
Please give us a call if you have further questions.

No. Your gate must not use a wheel and must swing freely and level throughout the entire range of motion of the gate.
If you cannot easily swing your gate by pushing/pulling on the gate from approximately 3 feet away from the hinge side of the gate, you must first fix this problem before installing an automatic gate opener system.
No. On a double gate system, the arms cannot be controlled independently.
- Wooden post minimum is 6”x6” set in concrete
- Metal round post minimum of 3” in diameter set in concrete
- Metal square post minimum of 4”x4” set in concrete
Yes, with the addition of the Ghost MultiConnect Kit added to your gate system. Make sure your control board is RED. If it is GREEN you will need to purchase the Upgrade Kit which comes with a RED control board. To learn more about SMART gate compatability, CLICK HERE or review the products below!

The keypad codes are on two stickers, one is located on the keypad’s shroud and the other is on the brown box the keypad was packaged in.
The primary pin code will be the last four digits of your order number, if your order number was GC0007 or GC00007 your primary pin code would be 0007.
Your Access pin code is the date of purchase month and day.
Ex. - if you were to purchase your unit on the 4th of July the code would be 0704.
All the remote controls will be programmed to work from the single GC logo activation button.
You will need to turn off Dip Switch #2. CLICK HERE for more information.
If you are charging your batteries via solar panels, you are either not getting enough sun (experiencing cloudy or bad weather) or you're not getting enough charge for the amount of times your gate cycles.

Our most received phone call is customers dealing with a low battery in their system. This low battery can be caused by a number of things including:
• A tripped GFCI circuit breaker at the home on the circuit that the AC Transformer is plugged into.
• Not enough solar power charging time for your discharge rate.
• Not enough solar power charging capability (not enough solar panels) for your given installation.
• For solar installations, please refer to our help guide for solar recommendations by clicking here.

The additional activation button would be for second Ghost Controls gate system (ex - one for your main entrance gate and the other for your back entrance gate).
This button can also be used in conjunction with our AXUR Universal Receiver kit to control a different brand gate operator system on the same remote as your Ghost Controls operator.
You can control up to two different Ghost Controls systems with each remote because there are two buttons on each remote with the "GC" logo on them. Each button can control either a single or dual system.
If you have two remotes and only one Ghost Controls system, you can actually program both buttons to operate your gate by "teaching" the GhostCode to the unused buttons just like you would if you have two different systems.
There is no limit to the amount of transmitters that you can add to a Ghost Controls system!
You can add as many AXS1, AXP1, or AXR1 remote transmitters, in any combination, as you want to our systems.

No. Only Ghost Controls remote transmitters and keypads will be able to control a Ghost Controls Automatic Gate Opener System. We use a proprietary algorithm that we call GhostCode to control our system on 433.92MHz. We designed our systems this way to maximize the long range operation of your radio frequency (RF) devices so that you can open/close your gate from further away.
If you instead want to add the convenience and versatility of Ghost Controls to your existing system, we encourage you to look at our AXUR Universal Receiver Kit that would allow you to use a Ghost Controls remote and keypad with another manufacturer's access control system.
This is a patent-pending feature of all GHOST CONTROLS® gate operators that opens the gate and keeps it in the open position for as long as you desire, even when AutoClose is turned on, so that your friends and family can enter or exit without needing a gate code or remote transmitter.
PartyMode® also prevents someone from accidentally closing your gate when you want it to remain open for an extended period of time.
This is a feature of GHOST CONTROLS® Wireless Keypads that conveniently allows you, your family, and friends to access your property without the need to carry a remote transmitter or remember an access code. When this feature is enabled, any numerical key on the keypad will allow the user to control opening or closing the gate with just one touch.
The GHOST CONTROLS® team designed this feature with convenience in mind for those people who would like to keep their gate operational but need to allow access to other people without providing an access PIN number.
Would you like to go on vacation without the worries of someone entering your property with a transmitter that was never returned or a keypad code that you forgot about….
Now you can!
VacationMode™ can be enabled from a GHOST CONTROLS® keypad and locks out all authorized remote transmitter operation, preventing unwanted entry when you are away from your home or property for extended periods of time.

Two C batteries are required and not included for the AXWK Premium Wireless Keypad.
We recommend a name brand of alkaline batteries such as Energizer or Duracell for best performance, especially in cold or hot weather.
Yes! There is no limit to the number of keypads that can be used.
This means you can put a keypad on the outside of the gate and another keypad on the inside of the gate. This is a popular solution for many people who enable auto close because it will allow guests to enter and exit the gate using a PIN code.
You can also consider putting your keypad on the inside of your property into "PartyMode Secure" mode so that the gate looks secure but a touch of any numeric button on the keypad will open the gate to allow the guest to leave.
